Me & My Background
While I am not a mother yet, I aspire to be and cannot wait for those days. Until then, it is my intention to pour my energy into becoming the woman I believe my future children (and husband) will one day need, while also building the life I wish to provide for & enjoy with them. This blog is, in many ways, a documentation of my journey there — a collective of everything I’ve learnt and done along the way.
My educational background in psychology and sociology has given me insight into scientifically grounded ways our behaviours, mindsets, environments, and patterns of living shape our lives and those around us, especially how our diet (through various forms of intake- food, movement, human interaction, rest, and media consumption) influences our well-being over time.
Alongside my studies, I have spent many years rooted in my community, working with children and families through teaching, coaching, mentoring, and program development. These experiences have shaped my understanding of belonging, responsibility, and the importance of creating spaces where people can feel seen and supported — values that extend naturally into the home and the table.
My experience professionally in home design has aided my passion for home design to become not only a beautiful expression of my personal taste but a functional reflection of my goals in homemaking and the life I hope to build.
Working as a photographer, it is my immense joy to capture the love & connection (I so incessantly speak about) in everyday moments between us all, and my clients, serving as a documenter of life. I take deep pleasure in looking back on photographs, recalling who we were then and the ways we have grown since, and over time, my passion and professional growth in photography have naturally intertwined with my work at At Heart, at Home.
It is my wonderful parents that I thank for many of the values that I hold dear, and much of the skills I implement and share within my work, from in the garden to the kitchen, and most importantly to and from the heart. I owe it to them for instilling and exemplifying the importance of giving in many ways, but specifically in giving to others through hosting- showing love and care for others, which they always described as, “being a light”.
Travel has also played a meaningful role in my story, offering perspective, inspiration, and a deeper appreciation for place. Through time spent living and working abroad, I’ve learned that no matter how far we go, the heart often returns to the same truths: home, nourishment, and connection.
At Heart, at Home is not about perfection or performance. It is about living deliberately, creating beauty where you are, and tending to the places — and people — that matter most.
